help with pilot bearing

Default help with pilot bearing

well im doing my a4-m6 swap on my lt1 and i bought a pilot bearing from autozone part# 14650 and it is really hard to put in the crank. its in quite a bit but its really hard to get the rest of it in even with a hammer. i dont want to hit it harder and mess anything up. i also put it in the righ way. beveled side towards tranny. am i doing something wrong?

I've heard you can freeze the bearing first.

get a slide hammer or a normal hammer and tap it in.

I used a socket that was just smaller than the outside diameter of the bearing and a hammer to get mine in. I would make sure that the hole was cleaned out with compressed air and free of any debris. Also check to make sure there aren't any burr's of any kind on the crank. good luck.
