Ways to quiet down shifter noise?

Since the new combo, i'm get a good bit more noise through the shifter area. My tranny is starting to die too so it's cryin a little. Anybody use any kind of sound deading stuff or anything like that to quiet down that area and the shifter?

i was having problems with mine rattling with the stock hurst. it kept rattling loose the 2 bolts and i was getting pissed off so i got a cardboard gasket cut it to the size of the piece that the stick slides over and cut a couple of holes for the bolts and put it back together. its been 6 months and hasent rattled yet.

No problems with rattling or vibrations throught the shifter. I can hear everything thats going on UNDER the car, alone with the tranny gears movin around. Thats what I am trying to quiet down.

get a louder radio :p

you could get some sound deadner (like dynamat) and cover the shifter hole around the base of the shifter. just leave enough room for the shifter to have full range of movement.

If you want to lower the rattling sound from the base of shifter to transmission then make yourself one of those gaskets. You can buy the gasket makes paper at kragen and pepboys..
