Default T56 tail housing interchange help?!

Hi dudes,
got a 2000 LS1/T56 from an LS car to fit in my opel manta. I'm just trying to work out if i can bolt on a retrofit tail housing as the shifter position seem a little better, looks a couple of inches further forward. Is this to much of a ball ache to bother with? Im in the u.k. an info isn't great about this stuff aint great over here.
Cheers, Damo.

You'll need to change the shift rail with the retro tail, but otherwise it's a direct swap. You should recheck the extension shaft shimming when replacing the tail housing. (An annoyance, but not major, is I wondered why they didn't drill a drain/fill hole in the retro housing shifter area.. Can't fill the fluid though the shifter area on the retro..) The retro also uses the T5-type of square shifter, not the rectangular shifter that are standard on the Fbody T56s..
