Falls out of gear?

Default Falls out of gear?

My bro just got a 94 and his six speed under throttle just falls out of 3rd gear. I have never had a six speed so whats the deal?

I had the same problem where it would pop back out. It may be a bent shift fork, which is what my problem was.

Dang.... i know he does not want to pull the trans but he did get the car cheap... Did you do fix it yourself or shop? Cost?

I didn't have the tools, time, or space to drop it, so I had to let a shop I trusted do it. Cost me 600 bucks, including the cost of the parts, but my rear main was leaking all over my clutch so that was fixed as well. The 3rd gear was kind of a "while you're in there" thing.

For just the 3rd gear, I'd say probably 400? Maybe less, maybe more. But make sure you find a shop that knows what their doing.

Just in case, does he have an aftermarket shifter?

It probably is the shift fork but when I put mine in the top stop slowly worked its way inwards and I couldn't go into 1-3-5.... you never know and that's an easy fix.
