How can you tell if rear bushing/bearing is bad?
The back of my transmission is leaking. I am replacing the rear seal but if I need to replace the bearing, I should do it now.
I had my transmission rebuilt w/ the viper output shaft. When I first put it in, I didn't know the driveshaft had to be balanced. Was pretty bad at high speed.
Now I still have a slight vibration and thought it might be the bearing/bushing.

So by looking at it should I be able to tell? What do I need to look for.
Thanks

The rear seal is just a dust cover. The tailshaft bushing is what holds the fluid in the trans.
I changed mine with the tranny still in the car. This was a stock t56. I pulled the bushing out with a long needle nose. I tapped a new one in with a dowel rod after I froze it. Not sure the size with a viper shaft but a stock piece can be had from napa it is a timkin bushing.
