how hard is it to drive a 6 speed fbody?
I was recently offered a deal on a supercharged '02 WS6 that i just cant pass up! i have a '99 WS6 A4 right now. i REALLY want this M6, but the thing is, i've never driven a manual car before. how hard is it to learn, and do you have any tips for me?

Its not hard to learn at all. For a beginner, I think they're a little harder to learn on than most manuals because they're geared pretty high from the factory, but its nothing a little practice won't take care of.

very easy. someone one told me the easiest way to learn is from a dead stop. don't give it any gas and just slip the clutch out till it starts moving, once you get it down start adding throttle...

I've taught a couple people how to drive manual using that method. It takes out the variable of the throttle, which can overwhelm beginners. When they only have one pedal to control, they can master the technique of getting the car moving much easier.
The only issue is you have to have a car with enough torque to do this (like an F-body). If you try it on a car with a small engine (Civic), more often than not the engine doesn't have enough power to get the car moving without the throttle, which defeats the purpose.

slip the clutch from a dead stop and once you get good at that go to a steep hill. pull the e-brake and let your clutch out a lil bit. when you can hold your car perfectly still on a steep hill without using your e-brake or footbrake. then you know youve got it. IMHO i wouldnt try to learn how to drive a stick in a supercharged LS1 just me. when i learnt it was in a 75 c10 with a worked 468 BBC i almost lost it a couple times. letting the clutch out to quick and the thing got nasty on me. lol just make sure you have alot of room for error. good luck buddy youll get used to it really quick then youll be on here asking how to launch the car and flat shift. lmao.

Its easier on a supercharged car like the one you are considering:
step 1) at idle, push in the clutch and place the shifter in 1st.
step 2) rev the engine to about 4500 RPM and release the clutch pedal rapidly.
step 3) buy new tires

what ever gear your going to go from put in in their (lets say second). Then push in the clutch and rev it up and then drop it. It will give you a little boost.

i knew how to drive a stick decently when i got my camaro, but i was comfortable with it within a day. they best advice i can give you is don't try to show off or rip through the gears until your completely comfortable or you'll end up screwing up most likely.
