Change rear main seal while clutch is out?
I talked to a guy about installing my new clutch, and he mentioned maybe replacing the rear main seal. I have never heard of anyone bothering to do so unless it is leaking or somthing. Anyone ever have a problem with a leaky rear main seal? And just curious if there is anything else i will need or you suggest i get during my clutch install. Heres what i already ordered.
Star Spec Stage II clutch.
Updated GM hydraulics.
GM high carbon billet flywheel.
New pilot bearing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I know it is common place to replace rear main seals on a lot of cars when the trans is coming out anyway, you are right there at it and most of the time shops don't charge any extra labor if it is a simple swap. I dont know if the LS1 has a one or two piece seal but if your car has some miles and it is a simple replacement it wouldn't hurt.
