Default T-56 Input Shaft "URGENT, PLEASE HELP!!"

My tranny's out the car now and I need the input shaft replaced. Looking for a shop within 6 hrs of driving time away from the New Orleans area to do the job. How much for the shaft and labor (worst case guess in pricing) and how long of a turnaround period?

You could probably do it yourself in about an hour. Just unbolt the front plate from the main case. Use some vasaline to stick the blocker ring to the syncro assembly so it stays in place, then install the new input and cover. You'd have to get a new bearing pressed onto the shaft...if you order it from us I could go ahead and take care of that.

Its pretty straight forward, you'll see two shift rails that have holes in the from plate to line up with and then its just the cluster and input shafts. Cobra guys replace their input shafts all the time when doing a clutch to upgrade to a 26 spline...

Ditto what Tick said, input shaft is the easy one. If you can replace a clutch, you can do an input shaft.

Pop a new seal in the front cover while you're in there.
