So I have posted this before but I didn't get much response so here goes again....
I missed 3rd gear about a year ago at the drag strip and ever since then my car won't go from 6th to 5th at all. It won't grind or anything, it's just blocked out!
But the transmission WILL go from 4th to 5th, but I have to put a lot of pressure on it and ease the clutch out in order for it not to pop out and grind. I have to push the shifter up against the stopper (pro-5.0 shifter) in order for ot to engage at all. And even at that it feels like it's barely grabbing.
Once it's in gear there is no problem.

The fork may be bent. Leaving the stop adjusted like that may cause a jump out. TA jump out can bend the fork even more. Thats another reason why stops are not a great idea.

The theory of a what a stop "fixes" is that you put SO much load on a stick shifting that when it slams in gear you damage a fork . The stop prevents an over travel and fork damage. This is simply not true. Most fork damage is caused by a clashshift. The load of the gear rejecting the fork is what damages it. Stops do nothing to stop this. The real thing is that the T56 uses a guide plate that prevents the rail/ forks from overtraveling.
5/6 forks are most commonly bent with a missed shift ( 5th instead of 3rd). It is a very common carnage for those who have looked alot of these.

Hmmm, I always thought the stops were on the shifter and inside the unit to keep the unit from trying to over shift and pop the slider keys out on the back side of the slider as it slides too far.
Maybe I just haven't done enough of them yet?
