The Trans Am (road race only) is getting surgery this Friday. Getting a cam, rod bolts, lifters, pushrods, oil pan baffles, oil pump, new front suspension, etc. Also, while it's out, I'm putting in the following:
QuarterMaster 7.25" triple disc clutch and matching flywheel
Floating 5.5"/4.5" slave cylinder
Stock LS1 flexplate (this is the recommended way if using a stock starter)
McLeod adjustable master
All new plumbing
We know that we are going to have to do something to make the slave work. Probably thread one of the bosses on the trans face and put in a post for the slave to rest on. Also we'll need to shim the slave pretty well to get the spacing right.
Any other tips or pointers to think about?
Some pics from when I bench tested the system:

It does use that flexplate. FYI, it uses the f-body flexplate, which is different than most other LS flexplates. The F-body flexplate is somewhat flat, while most others are dished.
It really wasn't that expensive. Everything was less than $800. Used clutch with only .001" worn off the clutch discs. Free flexplate (no one wants the stock ones). New flywheel, new hardware, new hydraulic lines - that cost the most money. Used master cylinder. Used slave cylinder.
Ebay for some parts, racingjunk.com for others.
My goal is to race for as little money as possible. I spend money where it matters (a used flywheel needs resurfacing, which is expensive; new hardware is a must), but save where I can.
