Also, you think 91 octane would have a significant improvement over 87 when doing this so as not to reduce timing and give the motor more power?

Not trying to be a retard but just trying to disprove a pathetic theory someone else on another board has. Thanks.

I've accidentally shifted into 6th at 35mph (and probably slower) before. Stupid Pro 5.0, worst shifter ever (was going for 4th).

Nothing happens (including you moving anywhere quickly), though the interior vibrates like crazy (poly trans mount, it never vibrated that bad before it).

Also, higher octane could and would definitely reduce the chance of KR (if KR is a problem, and it's not false).

never driven below 92 octane...but,
depends on how much throttle you give it:
>none or *very*little=nothing really happens
>half to full throttle=very, very bad shudder without any acceleration

What's the theory? I bet it's that the rear will break when the shift is at WOT! huh, huh?

Not bad on 3.73's either. No vibration or anything. If I had the power, I could smoothly pull from 30 mph to 240 mph.

The Mclaren has what 650 hp? So I'm only about 300 away!

I've done it before, and yes the engine lugs, the car shakes a bit, but you also get a ton of knock retard. It pulls fine w/o surging even w/ a mid size cam like mine.

Why are you running 87 octane?

Do you not like your motor or something?

My car can easily pull 6th at 45 mph. I don't do this because as I understand it's really not good for the engine.

The GM manual recomends you shift into 6th gear at 55 mph I believe for maximum fuel economy.

With 4.10 gears, that is about 20% more gear reduction, which comes out at... suprise suprise:

45 mph!

Do you think GM would recomend something that wasn't good for your engine?
