the trans should be the next thing to go in my car. I'm just surprised that the posi held and the axles were the weak point. Guess the torsen unit is pretty stout in a puny 10 bolt

Well I seem to have GREAT luck with them. And no, the loose torque arm bolts usually break the torque arm mounting plate, and yes its an easy fix, tie wires like aircraft use... Drill a small hole, tie wire the bolt, cant move..

However, the problems I have seen are all pinion related, or posi related. The pinions dont like the fact that theyre being twisted/bound with the strain from the tq arm, bearings seem to go, pinion seals real quick.... dont really hear it happen on a 9" because the torque goes to the housing..... And it has an extra pinion support bearing as well. Alot of stick cars cant get a 12 bolt to hold up, thats fact...

All I can say is one good wheel hop situation or put enough force to it, it acts like a locker where before it was acting like a flawless posi. They cost 650$ each and is unrebuildable.

But a heavy m6 car on slicks can do that.

if I remember right, it said something along the lines of "fill with oil, pull to line" either way, I drove it a while before beating on it, had it a couple of years now

[QUOTE=NJNETSFAN;11805129]I'd say the clutch grabs like a monster 5k rpm street launch on MT ET streets dead hooked. Surprisingly the driveshaft and posi held together, but the axle thought otherwise:

What level is your Monster?

U shouldn't be breakin 12 bolts with that power..!! It seems kinda of odd especially with that power level.. only around 400ish hp.. and 380ish TQ.. I've read about maros having 650ish hp still with the 12bolt in place.. Maybe its moser... Cuz the one I seen was a strange and it still lasting as well took some punishment..

What would be the best choice for a street daily driver that won't make over 550-575 flywheel hp?

12 bolts dont last behind sticks, I know people with auto's in the 9's no problem and lower. every person who launches hard with a 12 bolt I know, has broken some part of it.... they arent made for torque arms, no are they a good choice for sticks... put that together and it isnt good. FWIW my 9" is silent, had 15 passes yesterday all above 6,000 rpm launches...

Still tho... what that power your are making it still shouldn't break.. I don't think it was setup properly... But I could be wrong.. IMO I seen alot of 12bolts last... But seems everybody on here is on the ford 9" hype..

Wow. Look at all the carnage! I can't wait to finish off my Gren80 with style I'm rockin a monster III, Tick Master, stock steel shaft, and a 10Blt. I'm hoping to make a Midwest rear my next addition to the drivetrain. That should hold me for a little while

Our twins are going to surprise a lot of clutch guys out there, lets just say that a 12" twin will be easy to drive and take a tremendous amount of torture.

Hahaha ... It's actually your Monster, I just modified him a little.

I'm glad you noticed my picture.

I think the Monster might need a girlfriend soon.
