Default more clutch install questions

ok, I have 2 questions. kinda silly maybe but I need to know for sure.
1. do you have to grease the pilot or throwout bearings?

2. my old pilot bearing took a **** and there is now a groove around my nput shaft. about 3/4" from the tip. Im not sure if this is gonna hurt anything, but I would like to know for sure.

thanks in advance for your help.

New pilot bearing should not need any grease, but when doing an install on a a tranny, I will always dab teh input shaft with a "little extra love juice"
TOB, no. Got pics of input shaft? If real bad, may need to replace or have re-machined, but probaly OK. Pics would help.
