Default LS7 clutch question

I have the LS7 clutch kit that I haven't installed yet (should've been done 2 years ago) and I've heard that the flywheel is a lil heavy and that my RPMs wouldn't rev up as fast. Do you recommend getting a lighter Fidanza flywheel?

It's not that bad. Yes it is heavier, but if you are going to go light weight I would suggest not doing it with the LS7 kit. Wait until you are done with it then go after something else like a SPEC, McLoed, Monster, etc... Unless you want to use LS2 clutches instead for the life of that flywheel. You can but it is just my .02 bro. Is the gain really worse the money you are going to shell out for it would be my main concern. Will a handful of horses be worth a couple hundred bucks? If you see what I am saying

Well I've been having the LS7 clutch for 3 years this coming November. Never been installed. I need to get the Tick Performance master cylinder then I'll do the install. Back when I bought this clutch kit it was $400 shipped.

I have one on my 99TA with the 408, don't think it will hold that much longer lol. I got about the same deal on mine for $400. It is an awesome clutch for sure for the power it will hold, look what it holding in my sig so far. Don't do the drill mod to your clutch line. It makes my LS7 clutch feel like a damn puck clutch, very little room for engagement. But if you are looking for a lot more power later on, I would hold off for something a little better flywheel wise such as a dual disc or something like that. The LS7 is still an OEM style clutch and can't continually beat the snot out of it or it last as long. Such as hot lapping at the track so on and so forth.

i just had my ls7 clutch recently installed. on my old spec 1/stock flywheel, if you asked me, I could rev to exactly 2000rpm every time. On my ls7 kit now, when i try to rev to 2000rpm, i hit 1900rpm. its now too big of a difference for me; i mostly drive my t/a, not race it, so a heavier flywheel suits me better

i know someone would say. with my old clutch. i know if i pressed the gas with X mount of force, i would rev to exactly 2000rpm, now if i press the gas with the same amount of force, i would rev to about 1900. this is caused by the heavier weight of the ls7 assembly.

i dont think a lightweighr flywheel will make much of a difference

WOW. I dont know how to respond......LOL. OH the internet.

Rotating assemblies always benefit from less unsprung weight. I trust #s vs. anyones foot.
