I have decided to go with a RAM clutch after talknig to several people and driving different setups. I know people will tell me to go SPEC stage 3 or some other setup but my roommate has a carbon SPEC stage 3 and that thing is a little more agressive than I want. It hooks up strong but chatters like crazy. It is too much work for the amount and type of driving I do. I have 375 rwhp. HOTcam, Hooker LT's, exhaust and every bolt-on. I just want a very streetable clutch that hooks up better than stock since my stocker is starting to go south. I will not use nitrous in the future or an SC. I may do heads, but not too likely with my financial situation. I have only been to the track twice with this car sicen it is horrible at hooking. Instead we race my roommates. Sorry so long, but basically what I am asking is: do I want the 6130 or 910?

I got my ram 402/980 combo from Futral Motorsports. I bought a stock replacement flywheel, and a mcleod master cylinder. Pedal pressure is a little stiffer than stock, and there is virtually no chatter (you have to TRY to make it chatter). Its not quite as strong as the 910 or 6130, but for people making 375rwhp like ourselves.. its more than enough and is extremely streetable.
Good Luck,

it may be in the set up. i have the ram 910(not 910vds)my ram came with clutch disc,press-plate and flywheel.i have an adj-master too.i was told by futural that if you use any flywheel other then the one made for the ram clutches,it will kill the clutch early.this clutch has worked as well as i stated, its held all 430hp and n.o.s too.

I have a RAM 6130/402 VDS and its badass. prior to this clutch I had SPECs older stage 3 carbon and I didn't like it no where near as much as the RAM. My first SPEC exploded while shifting to 4th on the freeway with bald F1s
I replaced it with another(this was before RAM had theirs out). I got another SPEC because I couldn't afford a CARTEK $850-$1000 at the time, compared to $500.00 for the SPEC. I didn't race the second SPEC and when I took my SS to Rapid Motorsports Mikey installed the new H/C, 12 bolt and RAM clutch. I kept the SPEC, good thing too, because my WS6's clutch crapped out. We raced my WS6 with the SPEC and it has gone a best of 13.1 @ 108mph with only an exhaust cutout and removed the hood baffles. I had my ET STREETs 26x10.5x16 on but I had to run 26psi because the track was crap, but the car was bogging when I lowered the pressure. Anyway it ran 13.1 @ 108mph with a 1.9 60ft. I hear that SPEC has changed the clutch design and its much better now though. I still think RAM is the way to go. LS1 clutches HAVE to be installed correctly, theres no way around it.

some opinions for you. I personally dislike the VDS systems, I dont understand why they have a shim style still (costs more too). I have the 6130 and get no chatter but thats due to the 4.11 gears I have. If you have stock gearing you should expect chatter. Make sure you have the updated slave and an adjustable master. Do the drill mod and get a new flywheel. Reverse bleed the system. If you bench bleed you will swear up and down that you have all the air out but you dont. There have been times when the 6130's melted themselves onto the flywhell but I havent seen that in awhile (I think theyt used the stock flywheels).

Most of the 6130 disks that melted was due to using a power adder...nitrous! Ram didn't have any idea the disk would melt when being used with nitrous until this started to happen. But...if you remember RAM took care of their customer's who had this happen: they upgraded most people to the 910 free or a discounted amount pending mileage on the clutch. RAM has the best customer service.

Go with either a 910 or a 980. I've used both. Had problems with a newly broken in 910 disintegrating on a dyno pull. Replaced with a 980, per RAM's advice. RAM is a great company and customer service.
