Default LS7 question...

So I have a 2000 ws6 and I'm in the process of ordering a ls7 clutch kit but have noticed a few guys saying that I need the ls2 flywheel... so my question is will the flywheel that comes in the kit not work? thanks for any help!

The flywheel that comes with the kit should work, I just had mine installed but haven't got the car back yet. I think some people are saying get the LS2 flywheel because it's either lighter weight or I think the main thing was the pressure or feel of the clutch pedal from what I read. If that helps that's kinda what I've been reading.

The LS2/LS7 clutch uses a 12in disc while the LS1/LS6 clutch uses a 11in disc. The LS2/LS7 flywheel is a little bit heavier but i dont know by how much exactly. SDPC has the LS7 w/lightweight flywheel for $550.

Just installed the LS7 Kit w/steel flywheel from SDPC and it fit perfect. Came with new flywheel and flexplate bolts. Also installed a new master, slave and McLeod hyd line. Give them a call if you have any fitment questions.

ok so basically the flywheel will work, it is just an option to go with a lighter one(ls2) or stay with the heavier(ls7)?

I thought it was an LS2 flywheel that it came with? Whatever it is, ive read that it weighs 58 lbs(Clutch and flywheel) while the stock one weighs 50 lbs.

No, the LS2/7 are the same, you can't use the LS1, the clutch won't fit.

SDPC etc. sell the clutch kit with everything you need.
