Default T56 Differences?

I have a chance to buy a 1994 vette T56. What are the differences, if any between a T56 out of a 94 vette and the trans am's? Thanks.

A 1994 Vette did not have a T56 in it. It has a ZF 6 speed.

How is the ZF compared to a T56? and will a ZF drop right into a trans am?

The ZF uses a different Bellhousing/clutch/FW/linkage/driveshaft/TA-mount/speedo/shifter/xmem/etc.. A total and complete swap. It's weaker than a T56, parts are expensive, and you'll end up spending 3x the cost of a T56 to make it work.. Just walk away..

The parts are damn expensive on the ZF 6 speed. I had a guy call me the other day looking for bearings and syncros for one. The cost was over $2000 for just the parts he asked for.

What's even more funny is that most Vette guys I've ran accross will usually argue that the ZF is a superior transmission to the T56.... ROTFLMAO.

Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen

Yes I learned something new today.
Honestly never heard of this ZF trans until now.
Was curious so I had to search google.
Apparently they make many different types of trannys.

The ZF 6 speed looks way more complex than a T-56.

Also used on the Vortec 8100 And Duramax Diesel 6600.

ZF makes all kinds of transmissions for kinds of applications. Ford has used them in the heavy duty F series trucks since 1988.

I never knew all this before. Definetly learned something new today. I wonder if they make Ford's new 6speed auto in the F150.
