Default Ripper shifter

Just got a B&M Ripper shifter for the T/A used from someone on here. I've never taken the console apart before. Just wanted to get a general idea of how it comes out so I don't break any of the cheap plastics. lol Is there a write up anywhere? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Camaro but I'm sure they are the same..

There is a couple of Screws in the Center Console Box under the Lid, and there should be a couple infront of the Shifter somewhere toward the front.

i remember doing this in my trans am.. it can be done from inside that car with basic hand tools. twist off your shift ****, carefully remove shift boot "there is a bracket that holds the boot in position around the edge of the boot, it is fragile!!" there are small bolts in your middle console that hold it down "4-6 in total i think" i know there are two in the cupholders in the back seat. lift it up being careful not to scrape your e-brake handle "you may want to remove that as well now that i think about it "
after that it should be pretty self explanatory. make sure to set your "stops" on the shifter once its installed.. move the shifter into every forward moving gear "my transmission went ever so slightly further forward in my reverse when compared to my 1st,3rd,5th" to set your "stops" and shift into 2nd,4th,6th and set those as well. You should be set.

If i missed a step or messed up and someone feels the need to correct me, feel free to step in.

It's really not that bad, the only thing that is even remotely fragile is the shift boot ring just becareful when sliding the boot off of the shifter.I'll try and look for the writeup I used and post it up.

I used a guide from www.installuniversity.com , just go to that site click on lsx vehicle install documents then click on install docoments top left. Guide is under "transmission" and it is called "shifter install" everything you need to know is in the guide and it even has pictures.

Why even take out the shift boot ring? I have never needed to do that and thats the most likely to break.

1. Twist the shift **** off

2. You need to get the hand brake up to a 90 degree position by slipping a screw driver on the pawl

3. In the console take the coin holder out and take out the 2 7mm bolts and lift the cup holder and shifter boot section out NO NEED TO REMOVE THE BOOT ITSELF.

4. Then there is two bolts in the bottom of the console along with two at the very front on either side and one more right where the console plastic starts after the shifter behind the air bag box, all are 10mm.

5. Then you have to pull it to the rear and then up over the hand brake.

Thats the shifter install guide but don't take the leather boot off as your going to take off the piece it attaches to anyhow, you won't even risk breaking it. I've had mine out 5 times now.

I just found a Pro 5.0 on a Camaro. How different are the Camaro and T/A consoles?

Exact same. Pro 5.0 and B&M ripper installs are the same too.
