When I push my clutch pedal in, it goes a short distance before actually engaging. Is there something I can do about this?

 

The hydraulic clutch has to have a certain amont of free-play.
If it didn't the fluid could apply light pressure when hot.
If you notice or pay attention the pedal does change with temp ever so slightly.
You can get an adjustable master & minimize the free play.
