Corvette owners- 6 speed swap c6 to c5?
I did a search - didnt find anything. Will a c6 T56 fit in a c5 t56 - direct swap? Im trying to help a buddy his 6 speed only has 1-5 -thinks he bent a shift fork- both are Z06 if that matters. would this be a upgrade? I kinda figure would be stouter with the extra H/P that the C6 has, thanks for your input!

I'm pretty sure all C6 Z06s have the revised (stronger) output/diff bolt pattern, that's not compatible with the C5. You have to replace the transmission and diff as a matched set to do the swap. The early C6 non-Z06s were compable, but later upgraded to include the same combo as the Z06.

Yes, the C6 T56 is direct fit for C5's BUT you have to change the extension housing since the bolt patern is different where it bolts up to the rear.
No, you cannot use the C6 Z06 tranny (it's TR6060 NOT a T56) into a C5 UNLESS you replace the rear and the cradle at the same time. Do a search, I think BlownblueZ06 did the swap and there are pictures!
The C6's had T56 for NON Z06 Vettes up to 2007. Starting on 2008, the LS3 powered C6's went to TR6060's.
I have gone through 2 TR6060's and that tranny is bad ***! Only thing is....... it still uses plastic fork pads........
Hope this info helped you out.

The C6 Z06 which still had a T56 will not fit with only a tail housing swap. The mainshaft is also larger than the C5 mainshaft. As Mike said, you will need to swap out the trans with the diff as a complete assembly.

good info, thanks guys I had found him a C6 trans but w/o the diff -sounds like better off staying and fixing his, glad I wont be doing this repair what a PITA to work on.It may be something he wants to upgrade because he's putting down almost 475 to the rear wheels but thats his choice
