mgw shifter kinda hard to put in gear?

I have found that if the MGW sits at the reverse gate and won't go right in, if you hold it at the gate with some pressure and just barely let up on the clutch it will pop right in.
As far as it being hard to shift, do you guys have an aftermarket clutch on the stock master? Mine was tight when I got it, but I have never thought it required more effort than the stock hurst.
As far as it not centering, I would e-mail MGW they will fix it if there is anything wrong with it. Mine centers very strongly, I have went from 5th to 4th instead of 5th to 6th because I was to lacks when putting it into 6th.
Seems like some of you guys might have some transmission issues.

Have tried everything, my car will not go into reverse unless the car is off, and the key is turned to the on position, and i slam it from first over and up. Sometimes it still does get all the way in and grinds when I touched it after I turned it on, because there is no way for me to know if it clicked or not until I try to give it some gas. Not sure what would cause that. I have a Ram HD clutch MGW shifter, stock trans , and a brand new crate 383.

Each one that has come through the shop in customers cars are stiff. Most of the customers complain about it but its the name they want. I personally prefer the hurst billet plus. I had a customer that had us install the mgw. He was in his mid 50's and after installing it he had a hard time getting it in gear. I could with some effort, but I am a lot younger. We pulled it back out and installed his stocker back on.

I have an MGW and it has over the last 3 months been harder and harder to get into reverse. FIrst it started out as an annoying thing. THen it turned into okay lets get into reverse. Then a LETS GET INTO REVERSE and slam it in. Now its a have car off turn the key, get into reverse THEN start the car. Any ideas if this is the shifter or something else that may be causing it?

installed my MGW last night and i love it. I dont know where these comments are coming from. i suppose getting it into reverse is a bit more difficult, but its also a shorter shifter. small shifter means less leverage=harder to shift.

Actually, I have a hurst billet plus with a lou's short stick(very small) and is very easy to go into gears. Reverse is just as easy.

I agree it was great when I first got it, but after my engine install it would not go into reverse unless the car is OFF. It will not get into gear with any combo of gears i put it into. It has to be off and the key turned if not it pushes back and I can not get it into gear. That cannot just be the shifter being stiff or difficult, I am looking for a little more then that because I know if my problem was a common one MGW wouldn't even be sold on ebay.

did not like my mgw
I have had the same experience as others with my mgw shifter being very stiff and not centering back to N.
I went from an a4 to an m6 and need to remove the reverse lockout solenoid and fabricate a spring as I have no wire provisions for it through my a4 harness I'm aware of, but over powering the solenoid with an mgw... Holy damn!
I did however spend the extra coin and purchased the Hurst billet plus, with a Lou's short stick and am very pleased with it.
If you're looking at an mgw, I suggest spending the extra $50-$60 and purchasing the billet plus. The adjustable stops/side to side spring tension is very nice as well.
