Default LS7 Clutch install

Hey guys I recently put an LS7 Clutch kit in my brothers 2000 Firehawk. Everything works good except when you let out on the clutch about an 1 inch it is engaging. Is a adjustable master needed in this conversion? Also he says when car is cold and starts it up and it's hard to get in reverse. When I drove it right after the install with no issues except clutch engaging to soon. Or what do you guys think? Any help much appreciative.

Thats normal for the LS7 clutch. Get some break in miles on it, and it will gradually go to normal.

You may need an adjustable master clyinder tho, mine does. Im saving money for the Tick master. Have you bled it at all?

What kind of problem is your clutch having? I installed my LS7 clutch same time as yours(remember seeing your thread around the same time) and now I have a problem with it being hard to get into gear when at a stop.

I wonder if adjustable master will take care of it?

No I didn't measure gap. It had a spec clutch in it which was toast. I took the shim out from behind the slave. Should I put it back in?

you should measure to see if you need it...the shim will definitely bring the pedal up...as will getting air out of the system...read ticks writeup on measuring...GMHTP even put 2 and 2 together and put one on their ls7 clutch...but i dont think they measured as they should have...ive read a few times of LS7's needing shims though

Its difficult, not impossible, but has some resistance going in to gear over 5k RPM. It makes it hard to shift fast. During normal driving its fine.

I would try bleeding it, if you havent already.

I just installed a Tick master cylinder when I installed my LS7 clutch, aluminum flywheel and new slave cylinder, and no shim; the shifting is a work of art now!
I've got a little over 100 miles on mine right now.
