Default Whats the purpose of stop screws - B&m ripper shifter?

Just took out my shifter which was a b&m ripper shifter and noticed it had the stop screws in place. I noticed some people run them and some dont. What's the purpose of these screws? Should I remove them or just keep them in place which are already adjusted and set??.

Read the instructions.
They are used as positive stops so you don't bend shift forks, and you can only adjust them after the shifter is installed

yes, they are stops so you dont bend shift forks when shift hard. the rule of thumb is once installed in the car, adjust the screws to where it touches the shifter stick when in gear, then back them out a 1/4 inch. thats how i got mine set up and thats what I was told.
