Default Minimum upgrades for T56 in 500-550hp 3600lb car?

Been doing quite a bit of reading, sounds like 3-4 shift fork, billet shift keys, bronze something-or-others, and a shifter bushing... The viper input shaft appears to be for higher power applications than mine.

I've got a low miles '06 GTO trans. Going behind a heads, cam, intake, headers, 6.0L. Whole swap going in a '67 chevelle, sticking with hydraulic clutch. Trans is out now, rather put a few bucks in it now than break something that was avoidable and spend even more money down the line.

Kind of wishing I had bought "getusum"s trans, but that's looking up a dead horse's azz.

Engine may eventually see small squirt of nitrous, but probably 100hp shot or something smallish.

Application is NOT a race deal. Car may occasionally see ETSRadials and a few track passes, but is generally just going to be a cruizin' sort of deal.. Granted, anything stickshift gets banged through from time to time

Opinions welcomed. Shops close to Wichita that can do the work would also be appreciated (KC, Tulsa, OKC, Omaha)

Lastly, got all stock hydraulics and clutch stuff from '06 GTO. Where are the necessary upgrades, and what is sufficient in stock form?

..and I guess truly last, at what point should I just scrap the 6-gear and go for a TKO600 5-speed?

I asked a similar question(except mine was a f-body) a while back and everyone said the stage 2 tick rebuild. I ended up getting a bottle for my car so I decided to go this route. I only want to do it one time.

Thanks for the info! Seems odd that the GTO packages linked below include a 3-4 steel shift fork then?!?

Thanks for the info and link! Are you happy with what you have?

So here's my issue then, the trans sitting in my garage is probably worth a grand, then I spend $100 each way to ship it for rebuild, throw a $1300 tab on the rebuild... $2500 in a trans. Crap. TKO600 are $2000 with a shifter and probably more durable. Thoughts on that?

Thanks again for your guys' time to offer opinions.

Let me add something...How long would a stock 33k miles T56 last?

I haven't done mine yet. Still collecting parts. There are several threads about the TKO600.

I can't find the thread, I think BlackBird, I think that's name, who put the TKO600 in his F body.

I "think" the 600 is longer, needs a different driveshaft and few other things. Again I have not had any personal experience with this trans. I don't know what the difference if any there is than a f body.

I am sure someone with real experience will chime in soon.

I am sorry I can't help any much more.

I'll have to have a driveshaft made either direction I go..
