ok thanks. Problem is i kinda chipped some aluminum off the sweet spot in the case already so i don't have much of a surface to work with anymore. Maybe using a punch and hammer was a bad idea.

There is a spot on the case where it will seperate when you put a screwdriver in it..it's about half an inch long and like 1/32" wide. I think it's on the bottom of it..one on each side. Clear all the RTV off so you can fully see the seam, and then you will see it.

If you used a punch and hammer then you better repair the Seam to make it flush..as in dremel it down flush so you don't **** up the Case sealing. It has to be perfect with nothing in the way so the Tolerances stay where they need to.

thanks agian merv. I tried prying in the slot with several different screwdrivers and no luck. I'm sure if i took it out of the car i could get it off with a better angle on it. Anyway i had to drive the car back to college monday so i ended up putting it all back together. It will be a project for another day!

The Keys could be messed up or the Synchro Ring could be wore out..

Look up Tick Performance..they are a sponsor here.

I haven't made any progress with it yet. I'm living with it for now but i might try to pop off the rear cover again to replace the reverse blocker ring. I'm just not sure if i want invest $1100 in a full rebuild from Tick because it still goes forward fine.

I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH MY D&D BUILT T56 POPPING OUT OF REVERSE BUT ALL FORWARD GEARS WERE FINE....WELL ENGINE IS OUT NOW, SO I DECIEDED TO THE TRANS AT THE SAME TIME, TOOK THE REAR COVER OFF TO FIND THESE PIECES. THEN TO FIND OUT I DIDNT HAVE A TOOL TO PRESS THE SPEEDO RELUCTOR OFF, SO I BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL TRANS SHOP....TURNS OUT IT WASNT A BROKEN REVERSE KEY OR BLOCKER RING, BUT PART OF THE SHIFTING PINS I THINK HE SAID...AND AS A RESULT IT ALSO BROKE A 1-2 KEY BECAUSE IT WASNT SHIFTING PROPERLY. JUST BE AWHARE YOUR GONNA NEED A SPEACIAL TOOL TO PULL THE RELUCTOR! GOOD LUCK!

Ok thanks for the info guys. I got a good deal on a T56 that has the reverse pop-out problem. It also seems to have a sight bind (but only on a certain spot) when I turn the shaft. I pulled the front cover off and 1-4 look like new. I haven't had time to pull the tail section off yet.
