Difference between LT1 T56 and LS1 t56
#21
Or just run an Advance Adapters flywheel to make up the .400 difference in crank stick-out?? wonder if that would work.... AA makes an adapter kit for LS engines to SBC manual trannies... i.e. SM465, T-5, NV4500, etc etc.... i'd imagine the kit would work on the LT1 T-56 as well.......
would def be cheaper to swap input shafts though...

Trying to identify my front plate. My plate looks almost identical to the ls1 except where the slave bolts onto. That looks like its machined down and the holes are on opposite ends and not even tapped. The guy I got the t56 from said the Trans was in a zz4 with a t56. At this point all I know is it seems to be modified or converted and the shifter is a square style unlike the rectangle one.
You input shaft looks identical in length. I'm thinking I should just change the plate and ill be good, but idk.
My plate numbers are: 13-86-172-904
Where can I get a plate like this. There's non on eBay

Howdy Y'all! New guy here so be gentle haha
I had to bump this thread because I've got an LT1 that will be going into my '69 Camaro and figured I'd convert it to a manual and install a T56 at the same time.
I came across this write-up while doing some research and seeing how it's related figured it'd be a nice addition to the conversation. http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...on_conversion/
When looking at the write-up above I noticed in picture 10 that they're measuring recesses. Am I correct in assuming you could simply match recess from the LT1 cover to the LS1 cover with the use of shims?
Now, being that I'm going to be installing an LT1 I obviously want to retain the LT1 shaft, but should I stick with the LT1 type clutch and cover or switch over the the LS1 type? I'm trying to reserve as much space for my headers as possible.
Happy New Year Y'all!
