Default Want to change gear ratios of my T5

I have a T5 from a 3800 V6 Camaro and would like to change the gear ratios to the ones used in the V8 WC T5's. A few specifics about the 3800 T5's is they use the Ford style bolt pattern to the bell housing and somebody mentioned it also has a different length(depth) input shaft from all the other GM T5's. I don't know if it's longer or shorter. It has the same input splines as the V8(26 spline). The first gear is a staggering 4.03/1 according to the information on a website according to the ID tag. Even though it is a World Class T5, it is only rated at 230 FtLbs. because of it's gear ratio. The V8s with a 2.95 1st are rated at 300. I know I need to change out basically all the gears to change the 1st gear ratio because it will change the rest of them as well so I need to know If the V8 input shaft is longer or shorter. If it's longer then it's an easy fix by having a machine shop cut it and turn down the pilot bearing. If it's shorter does anyone have any suggestions? This tranny is behind an L67 Supercharged 3800, that's why I need the higher torque rating, and the 4.03 1st gear is kind of a waste.

It should be shorter. You will need to change out the 1st gear,2nd gear,3rd gear, input shaft and cluster gear to change the gear ratio. I do not have the length of the V6 input shaft handy but I do have the V8 input shaft in stock and can measure it.

Ok, I found this and it says the V8 shaft is 8 3/4" long and the V6 is 9 1/4". So because it's 1/2" shorter what do I do? Only thing I can think of is have a machine shop make an extender for the pilot end. The clutch disc I think will still be fully engaged on the shaft. How much will all of the gears cost? http://www.mackstrans.com/BorgWarnerT5WC.html

You could probably use an extended pilot bearing for the application.
