Default Clutch recommendation

I have a turbo WS6 that has 40k miles, should be putting down about 500whp when done. Im also picking up a ford 9" with posi. Ill be mainly DDing it over the summer but its getting autocrossed on the weekend but its occasionally going to be dragged. Ive never done a clutch before so I want something that wont be super complicated. Im thinking a stage 3+ monster but it sounds like Ill also need to replace the slave cylinder right? Any how to's on clutch install? Also any recommendations?

ls1howto has install info

used it to do mine...pretty straight forward mechanically. more of an issue logistically as far as dropping the trans.

i did the clutch myself, in the driveway....never done one before.

slave upgrade is a good idea...get the better unit and you won't have to worry about it later. don't forget the "drill mod"

I have to agree, the Level 3 Monster would be a great match for your car.
The Monster clutch kits are a complete kit too, takes some of the hassle out of installing when everything fits right.
And yes, the slave replacement is a very good idea.

Monster Clutches are on sale through this month for $100. off

What kind of torque will the car make? Are you changing the gear? What tire will you be using? All these things are relative to insuring you get the best recommendation.

Im not sure on the torque, on most turboed ls1s the torque is lower than the HP but for the sake of future mods Ill say 500-600. I also want a clutch that wont be ridiculous to work, I heard the Ram clutches are like that. Im going to be running 3.70s in the for 9," Im not sure on tires either. Ill probably pick up some high performance summer tires, I dont need DRs quite yet.

Our Stage 3+ would be a great options for you, providing great drivability and more than enough capacity. In fact based on the number you provide a Stage 2+ would be enough clutch. Im thinking I may tear the block down next winter and run forged internals, get a bigger turbo and turn up the boost. Ive thought its always best to get parts that are beyond your current limit because you never know what youll want to do later :p

fwiw my spec 3 had 7k miles on it before the turbo build and lasted 1k after before it completely let go (slipping, not exploding). going with a monster level 6 next

Another vote for the Monster level 3 here. I put 23K of abusive miles on mine before this last round of mods, then switched to a level 6.
