Default Need help asap

I am in the middle of replacing my clutch and i cant get the pilot bearing out. I have had no luck with any of the tools from autozone or harbor freight. I realld need advice / help. I am in md if anyone is close.

What is that freeze plug in the crank?

You may have to try and cut the pilot bearing, or use a dremel or similar tool to try and get it out.

They can be a real pain to get out of these engines, not sure why.

The "freeze" plug inside the back of the crank goes to the oil galley.

well i have quit for the night. the car is sleeping on the lift and i am feeling like i got my *** kicked. i am borrowing some mac tools super bushing puller tomorrow and i hope it works.

anyone ever put heat on the crank around the bushing? i am looking for anything. i am nervous cutting it out i really dont want to do anything to the crank, but i may have to.

i am deflated...

I just used the autozone one and it came out pretty easily. All you have to do is punch out the dog legs and insert them into the pilot bearing one at a time. Then put the dowels back in and use the slide hammer. This worked very well for me. Good luck!

yeha luck is not on my side. as i was tightening the puller in the bushing one of the 2 dog legs broke off. i hadnt even started using the slide hammer with it yet.

Haha that sucks! I've had some bad luck a few times working on my car also lol. Those rental tools have probably had tons of use, and I'm sure they get weak after awhile. I would probably take it back and get a new one and try again.

I had to use a die grinder on mine, the rollers ect turned to dust after 140K just be carefull grind till a chisel breaks it loose.

yeah i was able to get it out without grinding. thank god...i was not looking forward to putting a grinder or cutting wheel inside the end of my crank.
