Default shifter shake

I have an 02 SS with a six speed and under wide open throttle as the rpms start climbing high I notice my shifter is shaking can feel it, look at my hand its wobbling. Just wondering if this is normal and if not what would be causing this. Also my tires are toast so traction is not an option for me could this be the problem. Everything else seems fine car drives great has a new Ls7 clutch.

Do you have the stock shifter? I know mine shook (mostly at idle, but I never look at my hand when I'm at WOT), then I got my MGW and there's almost no shake at all.

If his is the stock (hurst shifter) like mine then mine shakes too a lil during idle. But if u burn out say when I'm waterboxing (actually drive around it bc I'm on streets) then it'll shake pretty aggressively. I've always wondered if that was a problem too.

Not to go off topic but after I do that my RPM's will hang about 2300 rpm's for a while and go really slow while dropping back down. I don't know what causes that either

sorry nukeemall if I'm jacking your thread but it seems I'm having similar problems as well

I had the stock (non hurst) shifter and I think it's just the nature of the shifter (being filled with more rubber components to isolate noise and vibration than aftermarket shifters) to shake.

My stock one did, my MGW doesn't, but my MGW transmits a little more transmission whine. It's a give and take. I think it's just normal. Hope I'm not wrong

Well, since I installed my MGW, I get more noise coming from the transmission. In 1st, 5th, and 6th gears mostly, I get a high pitched whine from the transmission. It's normal (according to MGW) to have some noise coming in through the transmission, as aftermarket shifters can transmit more vibration from using stronger, harder materials. I think it's just the normal noise of gears spinning in contact with each other.

you can usually tell when the trans mount is bad. you can jack up your car and just look and see if theres any tears and if there is im pretty sure its a goner..

And also. If it's not a real "loud" whine I shouldn't worry about it?

my old stock hurst shifter used to shake allot. when I had my trans rebuilt they told me I needed a new shifter cause their was so much play in the hurst that it probably attributed to the synchros failing.
and by tears he means cracks/rips in the rubber mount.
I wouldn't worry about the whine, mine increased when I switched to a pro 5.0 on a freshly rebuilt tranny.

Mine shakes like crazy at about 125mph and up.. I have 01 SS with stock Hurst shifter and the ws6store short shifter stick. I also have the Hurst 6 speed white ball shift ****, and when I had that put it you can definitely tell the shifter was shaking and the ball rattling. When I put the original SLP **** back it the rattling went away but it still shakes. I also have polyurethane engine and tranny mounts, do these make a big difference?

I have a '99 SS and am having the same problem. Anything over over 3k rpms and the shifter shakes enough that I can hear it vibrating loudly. Its a factory hurst with a short stick. It's driving me nuts. Could that be the trans mount? Or is it just the shifter/stick?

Weird. My shaking completely disappeared when I installed solid motor mounts and a prothane trans mount...

My shifter, under hard accelleration, would..... "rise to the occasion" so to speak, LOL
