Think i may have bought a Fake Hurst shifter..are t56's the same?
I've just received my Hurst Competition Plus shifter i bought through Ebay. it is supposed to be the original GM option Hurst for a 1999-2002 Camaro / Firebird. I have 2004 GTO running gear in my swap. The GTO shifter has a huge rear offset to fit the car that i could not fit in mine.
The bolt pattern on the base is correct, but the shifter alignment is way off. It's like it is bolted too far forward on the plate. When it's in neutral, the shifter is in a forward position, and when i put it in either 2,4 or 6, it sits in the correct neutral position. It's also too far to the right as there is no room left in the gate to get reverse. There is also no mention of Hurst anywhere. I would have thought there would be a stamp or brand engraving on it somewhere. I'm just wondering if the t56's varied in any way and that is what the problem is??
Does anyone have a different shifter in a GTO T56 that uses the forward shifting gate?
