How much play??

How much play?? I recently did a t56 swap with a used tranny I got off of the classifieds section here. I have noticed a clunk which I attributed to the rear end. I got under there and rotated the driveshaft by hand to try and figure out what it was u-joint, gear backlash, etc. What I noticed was the output shaft seems to have quite a bit of play in it was well as the pinion itself. I set my gearset to .009 so a little play is to be expected but the majority of the slop seems to be on the transmission side. How much play is usually in the output shaft and if mine is excessive what exactly is worn internally?
