Default pulled the tranny today... found this

so i pulled the tranny to send it out for the rebuild, already ordered a monster stage 3

after tranny was pulled and got the bell-housing off (what a PITA!) i found that my 103K mile car didnt have the stock clutch like i thought, but a LuK clutch

well anyway, heres a picture of my pressure plate, flywheel looks exactly the same lol

the slave/ throwout bearing also looked TRASHED, ill check out the pilot bearing tomorrow when i get the flywheel off, but im sure thatll be toast too

Luk and Valeo both make the stock clutches. I've even seen a Luk pressure plate with a Valeo disc.

Nice - my stock LS6 PP/flywheel looked worse at 30K miles! Of course I didn't expect it to last very long after a H/C/I swap.

Take your stock pressure plate as a base,(friction side down) weld a piece of pipe to it, and then weld the flywheel on the end of the pipe. Then weld some swivel casters to to perimeter of the presure plate and BAM, clutch barstool. I have one of these, its sweeeeet

Definitely replace everything while it's apart (all the hydraulics, PP and resurface or new flywheel, pilot, etc). The last thing you want is to get everything together and then start having problems with the one part you didn't replace.

There's two pry points to get the BH off, or it won't come off without a fight.. Around 4 O'Clock and around 10 O'Clock. Stick a flat head screw driver in there and twist. Mine almost fell off when I did that.

Not sure what I'm lookin at with the pressure plate, besides the heat marks. It's pretty normal on stockers if you push your car at ALL. I haven't had my McLeod off since I put it in 4 years ago, so not idea how mine looks.

x2, but at 100,000+ miles if it's never been removed before, it could be stuck on there pretty good (especially if you aren't using the pry points).

My slave was trashed as well, and the throwout had 1/8 of slop. I'm suprised it didnt grenade. No bad clutch smell though, and minimal slip. I was shocked it didnt chatter like hell after i pulled it. I've only had the car for about 10,000 miles, it looks like it's had a rough life

^ lol ya yours looks alot worse than mine... and i thought mine was bad lol

guess thats why GM put the clutch in, and be past the end of its life and still operate under normal driving conditions?

- the prob with the bellhousing was the top corner bolt on the driver side, had to tip the ending back about 3 full pumps with a jack on the balancer to even get the universal socket to have some bite

^ Sometimes you can throw a jack under the crank ballancer to lift the engine a little and it will lower the back so you can get to it.

Yeah.. mine looked the same at about 39k on it. I was messing around with practicing launching from lights, because I knew I was replacing the clutch. the friction disc was still in good shape, less the heat spots.. had a lot of life left to it.

I'll raise your 69K and 39K by my 30K I don't think it liked the added power.
