Short street drive on mine below. I put about 300 miles on it as I installed it late in the year. Built Liberty Faceplated T56(Viper main, 30 Spline Output, ECT), Spec 5, SFI Bell. It did take me a few times to get used to it. This trans...... is not for everyone. I found that double clutching or pushing the clutch in and wait for the rpms to drop made little to no clunk when street driving. I honestly never drive it the way you see in the video hoping to make the internals last longer. I have made a few mistakes with it banging 1-2-3 then letting go into nuetrel. It's almost impossible to get it into 4th or any other gear unless you slow down. I need to remember that I have to shift into 4th to slow down or 5th to cruize. You really have to relearn how to drive the car coming from a stock trans. As far as WOT shifting, this thing is awesome. I did spray the car once and everything felt great(even with my 3.90 gears and my 28" tall drag radial.).
Over the winter, I'll be installing a spool, 4.30's, Weld RT-S's and a 295/55/15 Drag radial. Hopefully with this setup, the car will be pretty quick.

It's all about what you can tolerate. I don't even own a trailer, so I have no choice but to drive it wherever I go. In my opinion it's no big deal, although by the end of drag week last year it was starting to get old double clutching all the time. However, I will be going again next year regardless. You seem like a competent driver, so I don't think you'd have a problem learning what to do.

Studderin. I don't know your time table for your rebuild, but if it's going to be after the spring, I'll be more than happy to meet up and let you drive mine. In my opinion, it does limit you a little bit as far as nice, smooth straight forward street driving but it's cool/different at the same time. After my last really bad break(tick stage 2) I decided that I wanted to 1) stay stick and 2) buy something that would take my abuse. After getting the trans in and driving it about 4-5 times, I learned what to do and what not to do. My friends think I'm a bit crazy to put this into a car that sees the track a few times a year and also think it's funny they can hear me shift the car from a long way away(4 cars ahead of me in traffic) when I don't double clutch. I'm building the car for it to become more and more of a track car in the next 3-5 years. I bought my entire set up built by Liberty with about 3k miles on it with little track time. Time will tell next year on how it will hold up. If your goal is to have a trans that can take abuse, shift smooth and fast at the track with no hassles, I think it's a great choice.

After driving a faceplated trans for 18k miles, the thing I like best is not using the clutch for most of the upshifts. In town, the only time I use the clutch is for taking off and shifting into 5th. I've gotten so used to driving it, you rarely hear any clunk when I shift. I pull to neutral, let the revs drop a bit, then pull the next gear.

OK, ya I fresh trans I can do good with. I might got a whole month of racing 30-50passes and not miss a gear.
Do you have to get 1st faceplated? Well I have to rev match it anyway to go into 1st with the car moving. But I hear you have to get the car stoped to get it back into gear on the street faceplated. I think catching a light going green while rolling up slow would sucks. And stop sings with a line of cars, 4ways ect.
The RXT is super easy so I dont think My leg is gona get hurt. even having to dbl clutch. I've been 8-10hrs on the car with the kirkey, and just don't wear cargo shorts, ot keep anything in your pockets. that kills my leg.
I'm gona take the trans out this week or next if its gona warm up. But not gona wait till spring. thanks for the offer lower_the_dynamite.

I'm assuming you have to get hub pairs like 1/2 3/4 faceplated because there's no way to put the blocker keys in place to synchro 1st while faceplating 2nd. Since the new T-6060 uses the gear to key the blocker in place, maybe that'll be a possibility now? That would make street driving a faceplated trans more convenient.

Dave is right, 1st has to get faceplated. I know on some trans you can have 1st still syncro'd but not on a T56. Getting caught slowing down and a light flipping green does kinda suck. I usually just lug it in 5th or whatever gear I'm in instead of downshifting. The only time I downshift is if I'm way slower than I need to be for the gear I'm shifting to. Stock cam really helps with this.
