Default Proshifted T56

so i just bought a proshifted T56 for 950, it is going into my LS2 Miata as a daily driver, my natural tendency is to double clutch so i imagine it would be fine for me proshifted however i am going to convert it back to a regular t56... in doing so is there anything other than putting synchros in it that i have to do?

Thanks for the info
Charlie

I do not think there are too many people with a proshifted T56. Not with the faceplated option out there. Hence the lack of responses. Not being a smart *** just an observation as I just went thru this issue with a faceplated trans.

You will need new gears as well. When it's converted to a proshifted trans, every other engagement tooth is ground off. At least I assume you will need new gears. Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will respond. You will also need new synchronizer keys.
edit: you might try messaging Tick Performance or another sponsor that deals with T56 rebuilds.

It's going to cost you a ton of money to convert that back to a synchronized tranny. It'll likely be cheaper to sell the proshifted trans and pick up a stock t56.

I understand that pro-shifting is similar to faceplating just not as reliable. If thats the case, you will need a new gear set as the syncro part of the gear has been machined off and a strait cut gear welded onto it.

I am guessing you got a good deal on it? For 950 you could of easily bought a stock one.

You'll have to buy 1-3 gear sets and an input shaft ( it has 4th gear on it), synchro assemblies for 1-2 and 3-4. You'll also have to buy the spacers that are eliminated when it was converted to a synchroless shift. $700 is a ballpark for parts as I remember. Each gear is about $100, the slider assem. were about $100 each as well and the input shaft/4th gear is about $200. Dont know about the small parts but I doubt they'll be over $100 for all of them.

ive been looking up dogbox transmissions (synchroless) and it seems they are fine just need to learn to drive it... double clutch for downshifts, upshifts are the same if not easier... main issue is how loud they are with the straight cut gears, i guess ill keep it for awhile try it out... just means no one else will drive my car
