Vibration in "top" gears
MWC fab'ed 9" with tq arm
PST aluminum ds
stock t56, pro 5.0 shifter
Wheels/tires are balanced, ds was just recently balanced, drive angle is set at -1, and all bolts are nice and tight.
The vibration seems to occur at rpms above 3,000 mostly in 3rd and 5th gears. These no vibration at any speed in 4th, and VERY little vibration in 6th. I move too quickly through gears 1,2 to really tell if vibration is there. Now, the transmission really needs a rebuild. 5th gear synchro is shot since it will grind if going into 5th too fast and it won't downshift without rev matching. reverse has been popping out for awhile, and recently 4th gear is popping out.
I've talked to a couple of guys that believe that it could be a bearing problem in the tranny since 4th is on the main shaft and vibration really won't show in that gear. Anyone have any input?
