CRAZY loud squeal
Here's the deal... I just did a t56 swap on my 98 that has an aluminum 5.3 engine in it. We used an old stock clutch first with the same results as now.
We replaced the clutch set, flywheel, pilot bearing, and throw out bearing. When it warms up after normal driving it squeals when I come off of power and let it idle to a stop. I can let it cool down for about 10 minutes and it's kinda quiet until I drive it again and warm it up. It sounds like the worst belt squeal you've ever heard and we can't get it to stop. The sound will not change pitches if I push the clutch in nor does it ever speed up. It just fades out. After it is warm you can rev it up to about 1500 and hear the banshee scream.
I know people are going to start saying it's the pilot bearing but it did it with the old used one that was in there and the new one.

We tried that with no luck.
Funny thing is, there are no wear marks on ANY of the old pieces to include the pilot bearing. I would imagine if there is a squeal of that volume, there would be something worn to show for it right? At least something would be shinier than the rest, but nothing.

Check your idler pulleys up front maybe it is just a coincidence it start right around the time of the m6 swap. Maybe let it start making the noise and shut it down and take the belt off and see what happens.

Thats strange it does not sound like it is the clutch, throw out, or pilot bearing. If it was the pilot bearing than when idling with your foot off the clutch it should go away cause the input shaft would be spinning.

You guys aren't going to believe this crap but it was the pcv valve.
I swear you would think there was something about to come apart with the volume this thing was putting out.
Thank you to everyone who responded and brain stormed with me on this, it really meant alot.

I have a similar issue and have had it since last year.. Although it seems to be coming from the front of the tranny or back of motor area. When my car warms up, it will squeal like a ****, almost like a really loud supercharger. If it cools down it goes away, and when I drive say over 2000rpms itll go away. Is this similar to what yours was doing?
