Default T56 can't go in gear HELP

When my car is off, i can go only in 2-4-6. No way in 1-3-5. When its on, i cant go in any gear. It might need a bleeding for the '' when the car is on'' but i'm supposed to be able to shift all gear when the car is off right??

Any idea?

BTW: Its a GTO m12, Brand new clutch components including slave. Shifter is brand new Hurst base model

Well, sounds to me like you have a bent shift fork. It is not the shifter. If you take the shifter portion completely off it is just a ball on the end of a rod that goes down into a cup that pulls the rest of the internal engagement. Rarely is a shifter the culprit. The worst they get is just feeling mushy from being less adequately built for "Hurst" standards.

hydraulics
I bleed w/ a 90deg spark plug boot on the slave; the slave cracked just enough to let fluid get out when the pedal is depressed, and run a hose from the boot to below the fluid level in the reservoir. Pump it for 5 min., done. JMD method.

either the clutch is messed up or the clutch still needs to be bled...if you pump it real fast for acouple of seconds will it go into gear ? how did you bleed the clutch by yourself?

I tried to pump it a lot and then try to shift....nothing. I bleeded my clutch with my friend ,who's a mecanic. I have my pressure at the pedal but wont go in. The clutch package is new, the slave too.

did you measure and shim the slave? Or just bolt it in?

your clutch is not disengaging. in order to get into gear when the car is off the input shaft needs to be able to turn a hair. if it's wedged between the flywheel and pressure plate then it can't, and that's why you can't get into gear with it off. when the car is running, the clutch needs to disengage so that the input shaft isn't spinning at full speed, then the synchro's can do their job and get it into gear.

go out and put the car in 2nd (1st would be better, but you can't get it in). push in the clutch and the brake and start the car. slowly let off the brake and see if the car moves with the clutch all the way in (it might), if not slowly let off the clutch and see how low it engages. chances are it will be right on the floor.

I'd say you need a shim.

i dont think the clutch is the problem, IMO the slave could use that extra 1/16" or so from a shim to put the load on the pressure plate. Sucks you gotta take back out but hey atleast its good practice
