Default 3rd gear grind question

Bought a 12k mile t-56 from a member here to replace the A3 setup that was in the car. Had a local hot rod shop install everything. All works good, clutch is smooth, every shift is good, except 3rd. It grinds like crazy and won't let you in it. If you put it in third then start the car, it's there, but no way you can get it driving. Just wondering if there's anyway this could be something that could be caused by installation error, or shifter problem or what. I'm using a stock hurst shifter, and like I said every other gear it works perfect in. Member said it worked perfect when he pulled it. Just wondering what you all think. I'm fairly new to the t-56 world. Thanks.

Yea, I figure it's gotta come out. Its just the guy I bought it off of says it worked perfect when he pulled it. Just can't see the 3rd gear synchro going out just sitting, I dunno. Didn't know if something could happen while it was sitting or not.

probably a bent 3-4 shift fork. they're aluminum stock, replace it with a steel one. pretty common thing.
