shifting problems
I've got a 2001 ss. I put in a centerforce dual friction clutch and pressure plate, with an aluminum flywheel from RK chevy, a pro 5.0 shifter and I'm having a problem getting the car in gear sometimes. I know you cant bleed the slave like you could with brakes back in the day, so I used a Phoenix injector. I put it into the resivior and applied pressure while opening and quickly closing the bleeder. the pedal is ok but it still sucks to get the car in gear and the pedal is a lot harder than stock. Also the spring that is located on top of the clutch pedal broke with the stock clutch. I was driving one night pulled into WaWa and I heard this spring break, and thought it was a clutch disk spring, thats why i upgraded to the centerforce. Is this clutch good or junk, I might go back to stock clutch because i dont want to damage the tranny.

If the friction point is very close to the floor, you have air in the system and the shop manual has a solution to get it out: with the motor off, pump the clutch about 20 times as fast as you can! The air should work it's way out with a couple days of normal driving anyway; if not you may need to get rid of the Centerforce. Centerforce clutches are not highly regarded by fbody owners; they work better in Fords. Do a search on Centerforce and you will see what I mean.

Yes the friction point is near the floor, but I know I got all the air out because the pedal has'nt changed, and I installed this clutch about six months ago. I don't have the shop manual so if you could tell me what it says maybe I'll try it. What should I do? Should I take it back out and put the stock clutch and pressure plate back in? I have other older camaros that use a hydraulic clutch also and once you lose pressure it seems like your screwed. I put the right fluid in it also from the dealership(***** expensive). Also the clutch chatters pretty bad but I can live with that.
