Default Tick: first impressions

Just got my Tick Adjustable Master in the mail today, bought it in the group purchase. After my 6 speed swap went grossly over budget, the last thing I wanted to do was dump another $300 into it to get everything working right finally. Since the swap I've had issues with the clutch pedal sticking at high rpms, hard to get into gear after WOT runs, hard to get into 1st and reverse from a stop, etc. The last week or so it's been awful, couldn't shift above 2k rpm 90% of the time, wouldn't want to go into gear every other shift, would grind randomly, almost impossible to drive basically. I got fed up with it all and jumped in on the group purchase.

Installing the tick wasn't bad. Just remember to pop the clip off the big wiring bundle and there's enough room to shove it in there. Beyond that install was pretty easy.

After the first drive with it, it seems that everything is just perfect. Engagement is right where it should be, goes right into gear no matter how fast or slow I'm going. It's just flawless. Clutch pedal is much stiffer, way more than I expected, but I'll get used to it. It's a REALLY solid feeling pedal, quite nice actually despite it being stiff.

Bottom line, just save your pennies for as long as it takes, and buy one.

I lost a grudge race at the track due to me not being able to shift into gear at WOT. So annoying!

This is definitely on the dockett.

The modding never stops... I still want a 12 bolt/ Clutch/ the tick adjustable/ Koni SA's and all the suspension parts to make it handle it's best etc etc.

it's insane how we can dump so much money in our cars and there is still something to be desired.

+1 for the Tick. Solved my LS7 clutch engagement problems when used with a new stock master or a rebuilt Mcleod adjustable.

installed mine about 2-3 weeks ago. went through every problem you listed because i too was out of money for 6 spd swap. Started with stock one, worked fine. Cam'd the car, got an adjustable Mcleod, worked for lil while then all the problems came back. Finally just bit the bullet and bought the tick piece, never should have waited so long. car shifts great even with the awful clutch i have in there.

I installed the tick about two weeks ago. Worked great for about two days now back to the same problems. Pretty much everything Therealcreeper stated in the beginning of the thread b4 his swap. So what's the deal? Is it time for a clutch swap, air in the lines, or something else?

Maybe you need to shim the clutch?

It has 62k on it so I might just replace it if I take it out to shim it. I was leaning on the problem being in the clutch but I'm far from an expert.
