Help for the 409...T56 6 speed or 5speed
Iys probably here somewhere but if I may..Want to put a 5 or 6 speed behind my 409 going into a 77 TA..want to do something different. I know the LS T56 wont work but I am thinking and have been told that the Tremac 5 speed 80,s camaro stuff and the Early 90,s T56 just might. Question is THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE FLYWHEEL.. Old bellhousing should be okay...not sure on flywheel and clutch stuff that will work. Doesnt the old school stuff push and the newer pull?????

409 big block chevrolet or 409 bore/stroke LS_ engine?
You're asking a broad scope of fitment questions.
The pull clutch used in 89-96 Corvettes had a solid hub clutch disc and a sprung hub flywheel. Good setup, but an expensive flywheel.
The pull clutch used in 93-97 Camaro/Firebird had a sprung hub clutch disc with the hub facing forward. The flywheel was similar to most traditional Chevrolet flywheels but deeper to accomodate the forward facing clutch disc hub.
Basically everything else V8 GM is a push clutch of which there are too many variants to list.
