Default ok, shifter help please!

Ok, after having many fobdies, i finally picked one up in 6 speed set up. car is a 96 formula lt1/6speed. car is stock with ALOT of miles, except for a welded in blowmaster muffler. mainly plans for now are just drive and maybe a full catback/ORY/CAI. the shifter is stock and sucks big time. I am under budget, but want a crisper shifter w/o going crazy. Now who recommends what, or would i be happy enough to just go with a short stick(lou's) or am i wasting money buying parts for the stock base shifter plate? any and all input appreciated.

I like my Pro 5.0 shifter. Its got a longer throw than others but its got a nice crisp shift feel to it. It is a lot better than the stock one.

hmm thanks, the more look on the net, im thinking to save ans just buy a complete unit, versus just a stick. the factory base is sloppy and at 184k im sure its seen better days.

Cheapest route and you will have a pretty darn good shifter: buy a stock hurst + short stick. This will make for a great shifter. I have a mgw shifter (paid 219$) in mines and it's the best mod I've done to my car. I will sell my stock hurst if you're interested.
