T56 sitting for 5yrs - inspect before running?
Going to re-light my '01 camaro build after 5yrs! Tranny still in place, everything still connected, etc - pulled motor through the top.
Opinions (facts?) on having it checked out before I get this thing back together?

I'd suggest over filling it while it's sitting for a few days, and rotate the input shaft in neutral by hand to make sure fluid is distributed and the blocker rings get fully soaked. Before driving it, just pull the fill plug and the excess fluid will drain and you should be good to go..

Thanks Mike, I was hoping you would chime in. Appreciate the quick response.
While I have your ear for a minute, what do you think about rebuilding it to support 700hp? Haven't quite decided on motor plan...on the fence between a stout 440 or 'modest' 460. Car will rarely, if ever, see the track. Primarily a boulevard bruiser and show car.
Trans only has 16k on it and worked perfectly before it went down. I have two conflicting thoughts:
1. If it aint broke, dont fix it....
2. If I don't fix it, it will break...
Suggestions are much appreciated!
