Just bought my 99 ws6 3 months ago and already I have trouble engaging 6th gear. Could this be a shifter problem, possibly eliminated by upgrading to a Pro 5.0 short shifter or is this most likely a problem with the tranny itself? Any suggestions so I don't get ripped a new one at a tranny shop or the Pontiac dealer out here.

I bought my car and put in a pro 5.0 and I thought it messed up my 5th gear well 900$ later it was the gear.

Was that $900 for the gear or for a tranny specialist to diagnose and fix the problem?

For the gear and to fix it. And I took the tranny out myself.

Wow! an expensive fix, thanks for the info, but any other suggestions from anybody would be greatly appreciated.
