Default Grind while down shifting.

i have a 98 SS with 490 to the wheels, it is a tick shift stage 2, built, m6 with ls7 clutch and fly wheel, it also has the adjustable tick shiift master cylinder. I have about 6000 miles on the car since i built it, and it has just started to grind or vibrate when i down shift and let out of the clutch. It doesnt do it all the time just once in a while and i can feel it through the shifter. Any ideas on what it could be?

Does the grind occur when the shift is in process or after it is completed while the pedal is being released? This may seem like an odd question but it is important to know the time that it actually occurs relative to the actual cause.

it occurs after the shift is complete and i am letting out of the clutch pedal.

Strange...because when the shift is completed and the pedal is being released there is no other mechanical function occuring other than the clutch re-engaging. Is there any way for you to get a sound-clip of the this?

It only does it when i down shift from a higher rpm to get a littl engine breaking.could it be the clutch or flywheel?

Sounds more like the shift is not fully completing. Do you have an aftermarket shifter with stops on it? The stops can slowly work their way in if not secured and locked, causing the shift to not fully engage.

I have an MGW short throw, what are the stops?

I am not familiar with the MGW shifter but I believe this is your bump stop. It keeps you from pushing the shifter too far forward and tearing up the insides of the transmission. You have 2, one on each side of the shifter.

The "stops" are just bolts that go into the shifter to keep you from "over shifting"
Completely un-necessary with the T56, as it just leaves more room for error.
