Default Why is my digital shift lights rpms different then stock tachometer?

Guys today I installed a digital shift light that displays rpms and it is way off compared to my stock tachometer. Is this normal?? Its probably around 500rpms off.

Do you mean when at a steady rpm or when revving the engine? The stock tach sucks in terms of keeping up, my shift light is set to 6,400rpm - the stock tach shows around 5,200 at that point when accelerating.

If you are talking about a steady rpm, then the stock tach is pretty close, at least when I compare it to what efilive displays

I'm not talking about keeping up. At idle, my new digital gauge is showing 500 and my stock tach is showing 1000...My stock tach is showing higher rpms when idling and accerlerating.

Is it set for the right number of cylinders? If it's set for 8, try setting it to 4 and see if it makes it match.
