differences in t56?
the 98-02 cmaro vs the 04-06 gto w/6.0 engine
what are the differences in the t56 of the 98-02 vs the 04-06 6.0 gto's?
are the lengths of both the same ?
where the torque are bolts onto the trans in the same location?
is where the crossmember bolts the same?
any other info would be great

The LS1 Fbody and GTO T56s differ only in:
- Gearset: MN12 (GTO) with 2.97:1 first vs MM6 (fbody) with 2.66:1 first
- Synchro design: triple/double cone (GTO?) vs double/single (fbody)
- Starter/bellhousing size/area: Can swap starters or clearance bellhousing
- Shifter and shifter-offset lever: can swap between the 2 easily
Everything else externally is the same.
The aftermarket GM T56 is a different animal, meant as an upgrade for the T5 3rdgen Fbody's to a T56 using the same clutch/bellhousing/shifter. You don't want to deal with an AM version unless you have a pre-92 manual transmission vehicle, and even then it may not be the best choice.

what do u mean the AM version
and how can u tell the difference between the camaro t56 and the gto? is there a different serial number on the housing ? any thing else ?
also i heard u can change the cup to fit a fbody shifter so the shifter sits more foware towards the bellhousing..but changing the cup, do u change just the shirter or the tail shaft, or?
i have 3.73 in the rear and the mn12 3-4 gear suppost to be a big jump, will it bogg my motor(ls3) or with the 3.73 be fine
