Strange grinding noise
Okay - so i snapped my drive shaft about two weeks ago for starters.
got a new one, got it balanced, put it in and drove it around. To and from work 80 mile commute just fine. Punch it a few times over a few days to make sure nothing's going to fail, runs just fine.
shifting through all the gears there's no synchro whine, everything goes smoothly but i'll hear this noise at certain revs in any given gear gear (only at certain times) and i'll hear it when i shift at times, and i have no idea what it is.
It sounds like a loose heat shield but it's coming from the trans and it's no heat shield.
Any ideas? again it runs and shifts just fine, it's almost like a sliding rattling sound.
Thanks
Mike

okay update, sorry to keep you guys waiting....
It makes the noise at 2100 rpms. i pulled over and figured it out. so even if the car is in neutral with the clutch out, it makes rattly/scratchy noise at 2100rpm
I put in a monster stage 3 about 4000 miles ago. It had a VERY small vibration at that rev after the clutch install, but hardly noticeable so i left it alone. it seems to have gotten worse after the driveshaft.
That being said, i replaced the pilot bearing, all the hardware that needed to be replaced, and made sure to slide the tranny in gently. Is there anything i could have done wrong when installing it? or anything that could be broken or defective?
or maybe it's not even the clutch/flywheel setup.

So..... is it my low amount of posts? i feel like that's a big deal here.... do you need more info?
here-
2100 rpms and 1200 rpms there is a grinding/sliding sort of noise that sounds like something a heat sheild would make.
-coming from what sounds like the bell housing.
-You can't feel it at all,
-the tranny shifts fine and sounds fine.
-the fluid's fine,
-it doesn't make the noise under load, it
-but it will do it with or without the clutch in
