Default High mileage T-56...

So there is 177K on the clock and its starting to get pretty "chunky" with shifts. I know its time for a rebuild, I wish there was a TDP near me! I dont know of any T-56 specialist around here...
I was wondering what the average range of a T-56 before its due for rebuild. It seems like I got a lot out of this one, mostly commuting miles though with the occasional romp through a few gears.
And as I look into gathering info for the rebuild I've been wondering about the Pro5.0 shifter and if anyone has used multiple aftermarket shifter and if the Pro5.0 really makes 2-3 shift THAT much better? Not sure how I feel about the tilted stick as well...
Thanks

I just built a unit for a customer with about the same milage as yours and it was the first time it had been touched. Expect to have to replace more parts than your average rebuild is going to require. An example is things like the mainshaft, 5-6 cluster gear, input shaft, bearings along with the basic rebuild parts.

The main shaft, really? I would of thought a few gears maybe cause of hi mile wear. I thought the shaft were a non-wear hard part that might get damaged from too much abuse. Thanks for the info.

The mainshaft wear in the splined area where the 5-6 cluster ride on it. As the wear increases, the gear starts to rock back and worth maiking it wear even faster. Once the splines are worn too much, it will strip and you will lose 5-6 completely.

Just ship it to Jason at TDP. It is true about the mainsahft, once it wears out it is basically just spinning in there. Jason can fix that issue though. People usually buy the blue totes that people put clothes in and ship it to him via ups.
